Aluminum wiring overheating at outlets
Why it happens here
Many Maplewood homes built in the 1960s and 1970s used aluminum branch wiring because copper was expensive. Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper, so terminations loosen over time and create resistance and heat.
Our approach
We repair aluminum terminations with approved copper pigtails and AlumiConn connectors, then torque every connection to the manufacturer's spec. We check the entire circuit, not just the failed outlet, because if one termination is loose, others usually are too.
